"Kids raising funds for kids...."
The hugely successful South African Shetland Pony Grand National (SASPGN) is no longer simply one of many much-anticipated highlights of Equestria. It has become a major fundraising event that will help change the face of horse-riding in South Africa.
The SASPGN has been re-launched as Equestria’s corporate social investment (CSI) initiative, and is now a Section 21 company. Our intention is to work towards achieving and improving the concept of racial equality within the equestrian sport at all levels. Equestria will ensure that its selection procedures are fair and transparent and the directors of company are committed to meeting the appropriate legal requirements.
Our mission statement
To assist young South Africans to enter the equestrian world by minimising the financial hurdles at entry level.
To ensure that all people, irrespective of race, gender, ability, social status or sexual orientation, have an equal opportunity to take part in equestrianism at all levels and in all disciplines.
The major appeal, however, is to the public. Equestria ran a fun SMS campaign in 2006 and called on the audience to support this important initiative.
‘Equestria is proud to have identified and launched this worthwhile initiative, which will flourish and extend way beyond this event, says organiser, Elizabeth Mohr.
‘We extend our most grateful thanks to the corporate company’s that have embarked on this project, who adopted and sponsored the ponies this year. Southern Sun pledged its support and donated holiday packages as prizes in support of this initiative,’ she continues.
Our young jockeys gave the audience a great display at each performance in 2006, and Equestria thanks them for being part of raising the awareness and giving unselfishly towards a worthy cause.
Align your company to a CSI project
by sponsoring a pony in the 2007 race!
Should you wish to participate your pony will be named after your company, your jockey and pony will ride in your company’s branding and you will receive full credit in the A4 full colour Official Programme.
